Fantasy

"The faculty or activity of imagining impossible or improbable things.”

Joshua Kane’s immersive 'Fantasy' runway production, showing at the London Palladium on the 15th September to both industry and public, begins with the screening of three CGI fantasy adventure film shorts. The triptych of short films brings to life the London designer’s signature “Three Tailors” motif in a story of three fictitious, turn-of-the-century sartorial gentlemen whose deeds were synonymous with craft, travel, and adventure. The films lend a narrative to this luxury, trans-seasonal collection designed and made in Britain from sketch to stitch.

The motif of the tailor, Spyglass raised as he surveys the horizon, now brought to life by Kane and Butterfield in the films can be found featured in every one of the designer’s past collections, from silk woven jacquards to printed shirting, alongside a host of accessories, ties, and handkerchiefs. This collection appears for the first time in a subtle black-on-black silk.

The ‘Fantasy’ collection marks a new direction for the designer, with a focus on the womenswear side of the brand. Alongside the impeccably-cut suiting that Joshua Kane has become synonymous with, customers will find a range of wearable separates. An opulent ‘Falling Blossom’ silk jacquard rendered in several colourways forms a romantic base to the collection. Gold accents of flora and fauna lend a naturalistic feel. The Scarlet wool used on military-style outerwear is from the same mill as that used for the uniforms of the Royal Guards at Buckingham Palace. Signature Joshua Kane fabrics such as a Prince of Wales check, multi-check and houndstooth are given a lively update in a rainbow of pastel colours from shell pink to cornflower blue. These are offset by key pieces in cliff grey and ebony.

Accessories form a greater part of the collection than ever before. Alongside new loafers, the first Joshua Kane ladies’ handbag is introduced in 4 colours: black, brown, houndstooth and a pulse-quickening post-box red.
